California Quail

Cold Springs is a no-frills type of refuge. You won't find visitor centers, or restrooms with running water, or picnic tables, or . . . It'll be you and the wildlife that lives there.

The refuge is open from sunrise to sunset, except during hunting seasons when it is open from 1-1/2 hours before legal hunting hours to 1-1/2 hours after. Visitors access the refuge via the Loop Road. Roads throughout the refuge are graveled, and parking is allowed in designated parking areas only. No overnight parking is allowed on the refuge.

Personal access difficulty varies by area. Most areas of the refuge are well-removed from roads. The only restrooms are Port-Potties, and there are no drinking water facilities. Refuge visitors should plan their trips accordingly.

While there is no overnight camping, there are numerous hotels, etc., in the Hermiston area. Please check the Hermiston Chamber of Commerce web site at for information.
