Be careful and aware.

Current Operations

In keeping with guidance from the White House and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and acting out of an abundance of caution, we are temporarily suspending operations of the Visitor Center at Cabeza Prieta National Wildlife Refuge. Planned events and programs may not take place as scheduled. Refuge lands, including nature trails and outdoor recreational activities, remain open and accessible to the public. For more information, call 520-387-6483.

Military Ordnances

The military used this area as a gunnery and bombing range during World War II and the Korean War and currently uses the airspace for training exercises associated with the Barry M. Goldwater Range. Many types of armaments remain on the refuge, some buried and some on the surface. If you encounter anything, for your own safety, do not touch it, make note of its location and report it to refuge staff.
