For Educators

Education 512x219

The refuge’s environmental education program is designed to use the outdoors as a classroom.

Free Educational Programs:
Educators, schedule a field trip with the refuge’s Discovery Environmental Education Program. Students participate in a variety of activities including catching and identifying water insects, making casts of animal tracks, seeing some of the native reptiles "up close and personal", learning how to handle fishing rods and reels, seining, learning fish anatomy, and observing the wildlife and plants of this amazing landscape. The curriculum is appropriate for all ages.

Trips are typically from 9am to 1:30pm with a half-hour lunch. Custom environmental education programs are available.

Unless otherwise noted, all environmental education programs and field trips are at the Brazoria National Wildlife Refuge. To ensure your students have the most productive trip, the refuge recommends having at least one adult for every ten students.

We recommend you contact the refuge as early as possible within the school year to make your reservation. Staff is available to help plan an educational field trip best suited to your class and their educational needs.
