Permits

All plants and wildlife are protected on National Wildlife Refuges, including Bogue Chitto National Wildlife Refuge (NWR), unless specific refuge hunting or fishing regulations allows take. Hunting and fishing where and when allowed are carefully managed to provide sustainable natural resources.

  • Hunting Permits

    The Refuge is open for limited hunting of deer, feral hogs, small game and game birds. Bogue Chitto National Wildife Refuge is subject to Louisiana or Mississippi hunting regulations and seasons. Regulations and seasons apply according to on which side of the river you hunt. More specific information is available in the Bogue Chitto National Wildlife Refuge Hunting/Fishing/Camping Regulations brochure. The Brochure outlines seasons, take limits, and other regulations and when signed, the brochure serves as the hunting permit. This free permit must be carried when hunting on the Refuge.

  • Fishing Permits

    Recreational Fishing is permitted year round in accordance with Louisiana or Mississippi regulations and seasons from 30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes after sunset. More specific information is available in the Bogue Chitto National Wildlife Refuge Hunting/Fishing/Camping Regulations brochure. The Brochure outlines seasons, take limits and other regulations and when signed, the brochure serves as the fishing permit.
