Beat the heat and explore the native wildlife and habitat found on eight National Wildlife Refuges in Southeast Louisiana through our fun, hands-on, and interactive Visitor Center exhibits.


HOW TO GET THERE

The Refuge Headquarters and Visitor Center are located at 61389 Hwy. 434 in Lacombe, Louisiana, between Mandeville and Slidell. From I-12 take exit 74 and travel two miles south. The Refuge Headquarters and Visitor Center entrance is located just north of the rotary at the intersection of Highways 434 and 190.


VISITOR CENTER AND GIFT SHOP HOURS

FREE. Open Thursday – Saturday 9 a.m .– 4 p.m.

Filled with unique, fun, and hands-on exhibits, a bookstore, and gift shop. For more information, call (985) 882-0093.

GROUNDS AND TRAILS HOURS
Open Monday – Friday 7:30 a.m. – 4 p.m., and Saturdays 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Explore the area’s natural habitats and the banks of scenic Bayou Lacombe. Two miles of trails and walkways meander through a historic botanical garden. Visit in spring to view flowering camellias and azaleas. KIDS, bring your sense of adventure and check out a Junior Ranger kit at the Visitor Center and use it to explore the grounds or nearby Big Branch Marsh National Wildlife Refuge!
