Plan Your Visit

Visitor to the refuge - USFWS.The trip to Block Island will require a boat ride or an airplane flight. Passenger ferries run from Newport, RI and Montauk, Long Island, NY during the summer months and from Point Judith, RI all year. The refuge is about 4 miles from the ferry landing on Block Island.

The refuge is opened year-round, from dawn until dusk daily. Our Beane Point facility is generally open and staffed during the summer, and closed during the winter, but you should call before making your plans to be certain that it is open. Please call our headquarters to arrange for group visits to Beane Point (401-364-9124).
