National Wildlife Refuges work closely with other researchers, Universities and science-based organizations interested in supporting the agency's wildlife conservation mission.

Below are some of the monitoring and research projects occurring on Bitter Lake National Wildlife Refuge.

          Mapping the distribution of the threatened Pecos sunflower.
     •     Monitoring cranes, geese, ducks, wading birds and shorebirds through the National Wildlife Refuge Systems' Integrated Waterbird Management and Monitoring program.
