2018 - 2019 Hunting Season

Current 2018 - 2019 Hunting Season has Begun!
Hunting at water's edge / USFWS Bitter Lake National Wildlife Refuge's 2018-2019 public hunting season began September 1, 2018, with various dates for game bird and waterfowl species, and deer, feral hog, and rabbit; running through February 15, 2019.  Please see our provided links below for current bag limits, refuge hunting regulations, and a hunting areas' map.

This beautiful, southeastern New Mexico National Wildlife Refuge is located where the Chihuahuan Desert meets the Southern Plains. Bitter Lake Refuge straddles the Pecos River to create a wetland oasis for a diversity of wildlife.

The refuge's current 2018-2019 hunting season information includes: the wildlife species limits and allowed take dates, refuge's hunting regulations, and the permitted area hunt map. Only game bird, waterfowl, and mammal species shown on the Bag Limit Chart are allowed to be hunted. All other wildlife species are protected.  For additional information, please Contact Us.
