Canoe Tours

This FREE guided paddle explores the wildlife and natural and cultural history of the Refuge as well as a basic introduction to canoeing techniques. Each excursion lasts 2-3 hours with steady paddling.

These FREE canoe adventures are designed for adults, but children 5 and older may participate. All equipment and canoes are provided! Only children 10 and older may paddle. Younger children will sit in the space between the seats. Tours are from 9 a.m. to approximately noon. Participants should be dressed for an outdoor activity and plan on paddling for the majority of the trip — for up to 2 hours! 

HOW TO REGISTER

Applications will be accepted on a first come-first served basis between 8 a.m. CT on January 29 and 4 p.m. CT February 7, 2021. Incomplete or early registration requests cannot be accepted.

Requests for these canoe tours are not open to organized groups other than family and friends. A maximum of 6 spots may be requested per application. To allow as many people as possible to participate, individuals who have not previously attended a canoe tour are given priority.

Registration opens at 8 a.m. CT on January 29, 2021 and closes at 4 p.m. on February 7, 2020. Early or late registration requests ARE NOT accepted. AFTER REGISTRATION OPENS at 8 a.m. central time on the registration opening date (Jan. 29, 2021), email your tour registration request to joanne_dolan@fws.gov 

To complete a registration request you must include the following information: 

1. The date of tour you are requesting

2. The full names of the individuals you would like to register, and if they are a minor their age. 

3. You may apply for first and second choice tour date. 

Successful applicants will be notified no later than February 11th.

If you register by phone please leave the above information with an email address in order to receive confirmation and follow-up information. Registration requests are time stamped and accepted and confirmed in the order in which they are received.
