Jobs at Attwater National Wildlife Refuge

Ever considered a career in wildlife conservation? There are many opportunities to work for the National Wildlife Refuge System.

The refuge staff is relatively small and very rarely are there vacancies for permanent, full time positions. However, each summer we hire a group of high school students to work on the refuge during our 8-week Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) program. Notices will be sent out to area high schools each April announcing the upcoming youth employment program.
In addition to the YCC program, we also hire between two and six Student Conservation Association (SCA) interns at a time. SCA interns live on site and assist with the refuge biological program by tracking prairie chickens using radio telemetry, caring for prairie chickens in the acclimation pens, treating invasive and exotic plants and performing a variety of other tasks around the refuge. Applicants for internships are encouraged to call or visit for more information.
