Permanent and Term Maintenance Workers and Engineering Equipment Operators Announced!

The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service (FWS) has announced more than 75 Maintenance Workers and Engineering Equipment Operators across the United States. Three of these positions are located here at the Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge in Boynton Beach, FL. Qualification requirements are listed in the vacancy announcement (see below).

Position Details
Maintenance Mechanics and Engineering Equipment Operators make up a significant portion of the FWS workforce. These currently advertised positions work at National Wildlife Refuges and will travel frequently to support infrastructure projects throughout the United States.

  • You will be part of a large mobile workforce which tackles priority construction, demolition, and maintenance projects.
  • Work as part of diverse teams alongside local refuge staff.
  • Use a variety of light and heavy equipment ranging from skidsteers to large bulldozers and earthmovers.
  • Travel to a diverse set of projects including levee repair, HVAC or plumbing maintenance, facility demolition, culvert or water control structure replacement, and small building construction.
  • Be provided with high quality training, and mentor other employees in skilled trades.
