Alligator - CSlavens - Promo Large

Reptiles are “ectothermic” or “cold-blooded” meaning they cannot regulate their own body temperatures. Many reptiles spend most of their time on land, but some spend a great deal of time in the water. All reptiles are covered in scales and can either lay eggs or have live birth.

Though they live in refuge wetlands year-round, the best time for viewing alligators is during spring and fall when temperatures are mild. This is when they’re most likely to spend the day sunning themselves on mud flats and the banks of impoundments.
