Public Comment Period Open for Proposed Increase to Refuge Entrance Fees

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is proposing to increase entrance fees at the Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge. A public meeting was held on February 19, 2019 at 10:00 am in the Refuge's visitor center auditorium located at 10216 Lee Road, Boynton Beach, FL 33473.

Recreational fees have not increased in price for over two decades. The Annual Pass will be increased from $12 to $25 for 12 months of access. The $1 Daily Pedestrian/Bicycle Recreation fee will be removed, allowing free daily access for visitors that are walking or bicycling onto the Refuge. We will also increase daily entrance fees from $5 to $10 per day.

The Refuge currently retains nearly 100% of fees collected which are used for recreation program improvements at the Refuge. Typical projects paid for by recreation fee funds include education programming, road and parking lot maintenance, brochures, passes and envelopes, trail improvements, interpretive signage and boardwalk maintenance.
