2.1 Composition. The Department of the Interior is composed of the Office of the Secretary and the following bureaus:

Bureau of Indian Affairs 

National Park Service

Bureau of Land Management 

Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement 

Bureau of Reclamation

U.S. Bureau of Mines 

Minerals Management Service

U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service 

National Biological Survey

U.S. Geological Survey

2.2 Location of Functional Statements.

A. Office of the Secretary. The Office of the Secretary is composed of the Secretarial Officers (as listed at 101 DM 2.4A(2)) and their staffs, and the Secretarial Offices. The organization and functions of the Secretarial Officers are described in Part 109 DM. Secretarial Offices directly responsible to the Secretary, Deputy Secretary, and Assistant Secretaries are described in Parts 110 through 112 of the Departmental Manual.

B. Bureaus. Organizational and functional statements for the Department's bureaus are described in Parts 115 to 155 of the Manual, with a separate Part for each bureau.

C. Emergency Organizations. Organizations which come into existence only upon the declaration of an national emergency, and which have no present staff within the Department, are listed in Part 190 DM.

2.3 External Publication of Organization Statements.

A. Annually updated statements of the organization of the Department of the Interior are published in the United States Government Manual, which is available from the Superintendent of Documents, U.S. Government Printing Office.

B. Organization statements for the Department of the Interior and its various units are updated and published in the Federal Register whenever changes occur which affect the public. These statements are published in accordance with the provisions of Title 5, Section 552 of the United States Code.
