Bald Eagle Management Guidelines

Bald Eagles are protected by the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act (Eagle Act), and the Migratory Bird Treaty Act (see Laws & Regulations ). The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service developed these National Bald Eagle Management Guidelines to advise landowners, land managers, and others who share land with bald eagles. These guidelines provide information on when and under what circumstances eagles may be disturbed by certain types of activity, and are intended to help people avoid and minimize impacts to bald eagles, particularly where actions/activities may result in “disturbance” of a nest, which is prohibited by the Eagle Act.
