RIVER 'S' UNIT (Hillhurst/9th Ave)

Auto Tour Route: Open

Vehicle traffic only. No bike or pedestrian access.

Kiwa Trail: Open through September 30th (limited parking)

Temporarily changed to a one-way loop to minimize the need to pass visitors in narrow areas and allow everyone to recreate safely and comfortably. This is a popular trail so you may need to do a loop around the auto tour to wait for a spot to park. Parking is not allowed along the shoulders of the auto tour.

No public access to bathrooms, informational kiosks, and the viewing blind

Due to the inability to provide the public with regularly disinfected surfaces according to CDC guidelines and/or proper social distancing opportunities in these spaces.

Spur trail from Main Street Bridge Closed During Construction

The pedestrian trail from Main Avenue to the trail head at the Carty Unit will remain closed during the duration of the construction. Visitors can still drive in or walk in from the sidewalk through the main entrance gate.

Port entrance open through September 30th

Access to the Oaks to Wetlands Trail and Carty Lake trail is provided from both the Main Ave and the Port of Ridgefield entrances.

Partial Trail Closures on Thursdays through the summer

The Oaks to Wetlands Trail north of the large oak tree overlook (marked by interpretive panel and signage about restoration) will be closed to all public access on Thursdays to provide work crews safe distancing while they continue work in this restoration area. Please respect this closure for their safety and your own.

All other public use facilities and access to those facilities  (including the Plankhouse, restrooms, and the Refuge Office) are not available to the public.

By following these temporary adjustments to access you ensure the safety and health of yourself, other visitors, the Ridgefield community and our staff. We look forward to continuing to serve you by providing safe and healthy wildlife dependent recreation into the future.

Updates will be posted here as the become available.
