ALERT! REFUGE VISITOR CENTER AND OFFICE CLOSED TO PUBLIC, REFUGE LANDS OPEN

Until further notice, Visitor Center and Offices for National Wildlife Refuges in the Coastal North Carolina National Wildlife Refuges Complex will be closed to the general public due to safety measures put in place locally to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus.   For general inquiries, contact 252-796-3004. Red Wolf Education Center is also closed.

Refuge lands remain open for authorized activities including hunting, fishing and wildlife observation and photography. USE YOUR MANNERS and BASIC COMMON SENSE! Be aware that hunting, primarily deer hunting, is in progress on the refuge - be seen and heard. Hunters: watch carefully for other refuge visitors. For the safety of yourself and your family, as well as the wildlife you are viewing, ALWAYS VIEW FROM A SAFE DISTANCE! If you see a change in the behavior of the wildlife (they move away, etc), you are TOO CLOSE! And. remember: all traffic laws apply on Refuge roads. Seat belts, car seats for children, etc. - whatever is required by the State on a public highway is required on the Refuge!
