Over 15 species of lizards and nearly 30 species of snakes have a home address of Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge. Additionally, a salamander species, six toad species, and two frog species also dwell within the refuge! These secretive creatures can be tricky to find. Search for lizards and snakes near vegetation and basking on rocks or roads. Salamanders, toads, and frogs may be found near water - ditches, wetlands, and even puddles.
