Operational Changes due to COVID-19:

In an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19 and to ensure the health and safety of our visitors and volunteers, the visitor center and observation building are temporarily closed.

Trails, boat launches, refuge roads, and open spaces on the refuge are open as they usually would be this time of year.  If you find that a parking lot is full, please come back at a later time or find another part of the refuge to enjoy.

While the visitor center and observation buildings are temporarily closed, the trails near the visitor center are open and accessible to visitors Tuesday through Saturday, 9:00-4:00.

Please remember to practice proper social distancing and follow all CDC guidelines while visiting the refuge.  Pack out any litter you might bring with you.

For refuge-related questions, please call (256) 350-6639 Monday through Friday, 9:00-4:00.
