Trail Conditions

Trail Conditions
Updated August 8, 2019

While the Minnesota River has receded, many of our trails are still impacted and are closed to all public access. Open trails are limited to the following:

  • Long Meadow Lake/Bloomington Visitor Center - Hillside Trail loop and Spur Trail ONLY
  • Long Meadow Lake - Bluff trail from Lyndale Landing
  • Long Meadow Lake - Bluff Trail and boardwalk from Old Cedar Avenue
  • Old Cedar Avenue parking area and Old Cedar Avenue historic bridge
  • Bass Ponds: Loop trail; Hogback trail is open to Old Cedar Avenue

Use caution in theses areas as floods can leave behind debris, deep mud, and damage to trails and roads.

Please do not enter or use other Refuge trails until staff has had time to assess damage and make repairs.  Unsafe conditions are present on closed trails.  Do not ride bicycles on Refuge trails until they have thoroughly dried and have been officially reopened. Additional details are below.

Closed trails may still have standing water, piled silt/mud as deep as 5 feet, downed trees, broken pavement, and thick debris. These areas are closed to the public until further notice.
