Flooding Information
Updated June 18, 2019

While the Minnesota River has receded trails in the river bottoms are still closed to all public access.  Open trails are limited to the following:

  • Long Meadow Lake/Bloomington Visitor Center - Hillside Trail loop and Spur Trail ONLY
  • Old Cedar Avenue parking area and bridge (boardwalk is CLOSED)
  • Bass Ponds: Loop trail; Hogback trail is open to Old Cedar Avenue
  • Black Dog Lake parking area

Use caution in theses areas as floods can leave behind debris, deep mud, and damage to trails and roads.

Please do not enter or use other Refuge trails until staff has had time to assess damage and make repairs.  Also, please wait to ride bicycles on trails until they have thoroughly dried.  Additional details are below.

Remember in flood season: flood conditions can be very dangerous and unpredictable. Please do not cross through flooded waters; turn around and find another route. Many trails can become completely flooded.

Closed trails may still have flood waters, deep silt/mud as deep as 5 feet, downed trees, broken pavement, and thick debris.  These areas are closed to the public until further notice.
