Eagle Scout Projects

Are you interested in completing your Eagle Scout project on the refuge? We have worked with many Eagle Scouts in the past and the refuge has benefited from many wonderful projects! We have come to find our most successful projects have started with a proposal from the Eagle Scout that reflects their own unique interests.

If you are interested in completing your Eagle Scout project on the refuge, please submit a project proposal including:

  • The theme or project idea
  • Your motivations/interests in the project
  • Why the project is important/benefits of the project
  • Proposed project location
  • Number of people to be involved
  • Estimated costs
  • Timeline

Examples of past Eagle Scout projects include:
Fish Cribs
Wildlife structure exhibit
Leave No Trace exhibit

Depending on the project, the refuge can commit to working with 1-3 Eagle Scout projects each year. The deadline for proposal submittal is March 1 for projects to be completed by the following fall. All submitted proposals will then be reviewed and applicants will be notified by May 1. Successful applicants will be paired with a refuge staff person who will act as a mentor and subject matter expert.

If you have any questions, or to submit your proposal, please contact the refuge Volunteer Coordinator at minnesotavalley@fws.gov or 952/858-0724.
