2018-2019 Hunting Information

Bayou Teche National Wildlife Refuge (BTNWR) will offer recreational hunting opportunities for the public during fall 2018 and winter 2019. All hunters are required to possess a signed refuge hunting permit - found on the front of the BTNWR Public Use Regulations brochure.

Small game and waterfowl hunters will be permitted to hunt seven days per week. Archery, waterfowl, and small game hunting will be CLOSED during gun deer hunts on October 27th and 28th, 2018 (Youth Only) and November 23, 24, and 25, 2018.

North Bend-East, North Bend-West, Bayou Sale, and Garden City Units archery deer hunts will begin on September 15, 2018 and extend through January 15, 2019. Daily quota is one deer either sex. 

The Centerville Unit will open and be limited to BUCKS ONLY (State Area 9) from October 1st through October 15th and either sex from October 16th to February 15th. 

The Franklin Unit is closed to all hunting and the Bayou Sale Unit is closed to gun deer hunting. All hunters are required to use the Self-Clearing Daily Registration Permit available at BTNWR Headquarters and at unit check stations.
