Grazing Permits

The next cattle grazing cycle at Quivira is open for bid applications.


Quivira National Wildlife Refuge, near Stafford Kansas, will be awarding three cattle-grazing 3-year permits for seasons 2019-2021 (May through August), each to the highest bidder. Sealed bids will be accepted starting Monday, June 25, 2018 at 8:00 am and closing Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at 2:00 pm. Sealed bids will opened on July 26, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Refuge Headquarters 14334 NE 80th St., Stafford, KS 67578. The opening of sealed bids will be open to the public, otherwise bidders will be promptly informed of results. Grazing by cattle is utilized at Quivira as a way of managing grassland areas through mimicking the historical grazing patterns of bison and other animals in this area.
