News Release

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) is inviting the public to attend a scoping meeting to help shape future management of the Visitor Services Program at the Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge, (Refuge) in Palm Beach County, Florida.

--- Public Scoping Meeting ---

We are happy to announce that the South Florida Water Management District (District) and the Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge (Refuge) signed a new 20-year License Agreement on February 26, 2018.

The recently signed Agreement asks the Refuge to evaluate 25 recreational enhancements for compatibility and possible implementation on the Refuge.

As part of this process we are developing a detailed Visitor Services Plan (VSP). The VSP will include the evaluation of the 25 recreational enhancements, evaluate existing public uses, and allow our partners and the general public to provide their suggestions for evaluation.

The Refuge will be hosting two identical open house style public scoping meetings to allow the public an opportunity to submit their ideas for public use on the Refuge.

Saturday, May 19, 2018 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Palm Beach County Extension, 559 North Military Trail, West Palm Beach, FL, 33415. A brief presentation will be given at 11 am.

Tuesday, May 22, 2018, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the South County Civic Center, 16700 Jog Road, Delray Beach, FL 33446. A brief presentation will be given at 6 pm.

We are excited to have you attend one of these meetings and are interested in your ideas and concerns.

Suggestions and comments can also be submitted by e-mail at armloxvsp@fws.gov or by mail to A.R.M. Loxahatchee VSP, P.O. Box 924, Freeport, FL 32439. The deadline for comments is August 3, 2018.

Thank you for helping us evaluate and improve our public use program and activities at the Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge.
