Southwest Louisiana National Wildlife Refuges Re-Opened Most Recreation Areas Today August 31, 2017

The Southwest Louisiana National Wildlife Refuges including Sabine, Cameron Prairie, and Lacassine have re-opened many areas to the public today.  All recreation areas at Sabine refuge are open, Lacassine Pool is open, but Streeter’s Road Fishing Pier is closed due to flood water.  Cameron Prairie NWR Visitor Center has re-opened, however, Pintail Drive and Bank Fishing Road are closed due to flooding.  Flooded areas will be re-evaluated after Labor Day to determine if they can be opened. The Cameron Prairie Visitor Center will be open from 7:30 am till Noon, Friday September 1 and 9:00 am-4:00 pm Saturday September 2, 2017. It will re-open with regularly scheduled hours beginning Tuesday, September 5, 2017 after Labor Day.
