Draft Fire Management Plan for McKinney NWR Released


Westbrook, CT - The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) has announced a Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) for a Fire Management Plan (FMP) for the Stewart B. McKinney National Wildlife Refuge in coastal Connecticut. The refuge is made up of units in Greenwich, Norwalk, Stratford, Milford, Branford, Guilford and Westbrook.

This EA evaluates the impact of fire management activities including prescribed fire and mechanical treatments on Service-owned lands along the Connecticut coast.

A 30 day public comment period ended August 16th 2017, however all members of the public are invited to read the EA/FMP.
