Auto Tour Road Closure

Flooded Auto Tour Route March 2019

Missouri River floodwaters overtopped the Auto Tour Route into Pelican Pool at Loess Bluffs NWR March 21, 2019.

Loess Bluffs NWR Auto Tour Closed Due to Flooding and Damage

As of March 9, 2019, the Loess Bluffs National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) Auto Tour is closed until further notice. The floodwaters from the Missouri River and flash flooding from Davis and Squaw creeks on the east and west side of the refuge has damaged portions of the auto tour route and various levees. It is unknown when the Auto Tour Route will re-open. Please be patient as maintenance staff works on repairing the roads and levees when the waters recede. The public can still walk in or use a bicycle on the auto tour route if dry, and avoid crossing flooded roads.
