  • Visitor Center Exhibits


    Come discover the wild side of the refuge through interactive displays, hands-on learning stations, and an indoor wildlife observation window, fun for all ages.

  • Activity Backpacks


    Explore your National Wildlife Refuge with one of our "Let’s Go Outside" activity backpacks. Each backpack provides naturalist tools and fun activities for enhancing your visit. Stop by the Visitor Center front desk to check out one of these free activity backpacks.

  • Scavenger Hunts


    Use your detective skills and take a scavenger hunt challenge! Explore the refuge by foot, snowshoe, or even with a camera to discover the wonder of wildlife. Each season, a new outdoor scavenger hunt can be found in the Visitor Center – rain or shine!

  • Hiking


    As the seasons change, the Refuge offers new sights and sounds for visitors to enjoy. Over eight miles of trails provide a variety of routes to choose from, allowing families to get out and move in nature. For families with young children, the Visitor Center trail offers a great hiking experience, has rest stops along the way, and is stroller friendly. Click here for Refuge Trail Maps.

  • Eco Explorers Summer Camp (Grades 1-6)


    Sign up for this signature summer camp where children engage in outdoor adventure and hands-on nature activities that lead to a deeper appreciation of the natural world. Call the Education Coordinator for more information at 608-565-4403.

  • Jr. Duck Stamp Contest


    Attention young artists in grades K-12: put your art skills to the test by submitting renderings of waterfowl into Wisconsin’s annual Federal Junior Duck Stamp Contest. All Wisconsin students in public, private, or homeschool are eligible to complete in this contest. Entries due annually by March 15th.
