Open Country Spring Birds

Saturday, May 31 @ 7 amSwamp Sparrow with Moth

Saturday, May 31 at 7 am. Join us and explore one of the Refuge's grassland habitats. Meet at the Refuge Visitor Center parking lot before 7 am for this birdwalk led by local birder Steve Kimbrell.

We will start on time unless there is heavy rain. We'll observe "birding green" by carpooling to the birding site and provide the ride or ride along. Please bring binoculars or borrow of ours.

  • Meet at the Refuge Visitor Center parking lot
  • Arrive before 7 am
  • Dress for the weather
  • Bring binoculars or borrow ours

NOTE: This walk will be a moderate to a more difficult walk of about a mile. There are no steep hills. Be prepared to get wet from dew on the grass. We will not be wading but may have to make short, broad jumps. This will be an adventure and not recommended for children or those who are challenged physically.
