A "touch table" exhibits hides, skulls and antlers for visitors to touch and feel.

VC deck view 512x219The back wildlife viewing deck overlooks the Refuge's Upper Hawley wetland unit and often has a wide variety of birds, ungulates or insects to watch.  Bird feeds are maintained throughout the year just off the back deck and bring in unique birds, such as gray-crowned rosy finches during the winter months.

LGO pack 250x180A recently acquired classroom set of explorer backpacks are available for your group or kids to check out and take a nature walk on the Refuge.  The backpack includes aquatic and terrestrial nets with magnifying glasses, petri dishes, identification guides, nature journals and much more!

Winter Hours are 7:30 am - 4:00 pm Monday through Friday

Summer Hours are 7:30 am - 4:00 pm Monday through Friday and occasionally open for a few hours on the weekends, dependent upon staff and volunteer availability.  We recommend calling ahead to ensure the Visitor's and Environmental Center is unlocked and open, as the Refuge staff is small and often out in the field.
