Summer is an exciting time in Virginia Beach. Back Bay NWR is continuing our single session day camp aiming to introduce children to the unique environment found in the Back Bay area.
DetailsActivities for the Back Bay Explorers program include a hike on the beach, talking about sea turtles and looking for shells, a seine net activity, searching for fish and other animals that live just under the surface of the Back Bay, a nature hike along the Bay Trail, arts and crafts and more.
All participants in the program will need to bring a hat, water bottle, a snack or lunch, wear close-toed shoes and apply sunscreen before the beginning of the program. Off! Deep Woods bug spray is provided, but if an alternative bug spray is desired we ask that parents bring the spray with them.
Please call (757) 301-7329 ext. 3106 for more details and to sign up for a session. There is no fee for the program but a $5.00 entrance fee to the wildlife refuge applies. You may also purchase a year-long pass for $15.00.
