2011 Career Discovery Internship Program

Katie Howe

My name is Katie Howe and I grew up in South Hadley, MA and stayed there throughout high school. I now attend the University of Tampa pursuing a double major in Marine Science and Biology, with a minor in Environmental Science. I love traveling, sleeping, watching movies, hiking, swimming, and reading. My love for nature started when I was very young. I joined Girl Scouts in first grade and stayed in it for 7 years. I was the one who always wanted to get nature badges through camping, horseback riding, hiking, or whatever else I could find. My supervisor at the Great Falls Discovery Center told me about the CDIP. I hope to improve my networking, organizational, and public speaking skills throughout this internship, along with learning more about invasive species. Ultimately, I would like to research tiger shark migration patterns and be involved in shark conservation in general; however, I am currently enjoying visitors’ services and interpretation.
