2011 Career Discovery Internship Program

Jessica Eason

Hello my name is Jessica Eason I'm from Mansfield, Massachusetts and I am interning at the North Attleboro National Fish Hatchery in North Attleboro, MA. Massachusetts is characterized by its luscious deciduous forests and lavish wildlife; therefore having grown up surrounded by woodlands and all of its creatures an interest in nature was somewhat inevitable. As of right now I have just finished my freshman year at Brown University majoring in Marine Biology. I am also on the track and field team at Brown University and enjoy playing basketball and exploring the city of Providence in my spare time. Since I can remember I've always had an interest in marine or aquatic wildlife. Once I heard about the CDIP internship I jumped on the opportunity to further explore a career in conserving and interacting with fish and other aquatic wildlife. This summer I hope to learn what it takes to conserve fish and explore whether or not I would like to make a career out of it. This experience is a huge milestone in determining what I would like to do with the rest of my life. I hope to indulge in things that may take me out of my comfort zone and make me think out of the box when exploring new environments. However as of now my heart lies greatly with the ocean in its entirety including the marine life that lives in it; therefore I remain an inspiring marine biologist that may one day use this CDIP experience to help save other marine life and aquatic mammals.
