2011 Career Discovery Internship Program

Apryl Bantom

My name is Apryl Bantom and I attend Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan. A rising sophomore I am majoring in Natural Resource Management with a minor in biology. Born and raised in the City of Detroit my parents nurtured my love of nature from a very young age.  As a child I loved taking trips to the Detroit Zoo and watching documentaries on different conservation issues on the Discovery Channel.  In my spare time I love to watch old black and white movies, read, write, and relax with family and friends. I also get involve with community service projects, especially through a school organization called You Beautiful Black Women where I am the acting historian. I applied to the CDIP program to gain summer experience that related to my major. I plan on gaining knowledge and valuable connections as well as a stronger idea of what direction I want take my degree. My goal is to have a stable career with good benefits so I can support my family. I want to do work abroad in Africa or India. Lastly I want to help people by improving the land.
