Dominion Virginia Power Warren County Power Station Low Effect HCP Connect with Us

Dominion Virginia Power has received an Incidental Take Permit from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to authorize incidental take of the threatened Madison Cave isopod (MCI) that may result from construction of a new natural gas-fired combined-cycle power station in Warren County, Virginia. The Virginia Field Office and other partners have been working closely with Dominion Virginia Power on ways to avoid impacts to the federally listed threatened MCI during the construction of their new natural gas-fired combined-cycle power station in Warren County, Virginia, and the effort resulted in the development of the Low-effect Habitat Conservation Plan (LEHCP). The LEHCP outlines measures to minimize and mitigate the effects of the construction on the federally listed threatened MCI. No incidental take is expected to occur during operation of the facility after it is built. Dominion Virginia Power will use state of the art foundation design techniques to minimize the potential effects of construction on the MCI. They will upgrade the existing stormwater management system and place a conservation easement on a parcel of land that would protect a site where MCI is known to occur.
