Northeast Region
About Us

Our mission is to work with others to conserve, protect and enhance migratory birds in the Northeast Region and Atlantic Flyway for the continuing benefit of the American people.

In 2016, the Northeast Region Migratory Bird's Program's top priorities are to work with partners to:

  1. Implement the Atlantic Flyway Shorebird Initiative, collaborate on Partners in Flight business planning efforts (e.g., Central and South American Highlands Business Plan), and apply the same business planning approach to additional species and groups of birds with the greatest conservation needs (i.e., Bicknell’s thrush, marine birds, and saltmarsh birds).
  2. Inform and implement strategic habitat conservation for priority bird species to avoid impacts from habitat degradation, energy development, and other threats.
  3. Connect people in urban areas to migratory birds, using the Migratory Bird Treaty Centennial celebrations and Urban Bird Treaty Cities to build new partnerships and increase appreciation of nature.
