Service joins Congressman Sarbanes and Mayor Rawlings-Blake to launch Greater Baltimore Wilderness Coalition

Today the Service joined Congressman John Sarbanes, Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, local government and nonprofit rganizations to launch the Greater Baltimore Wilderness Coalition. With support from the Service, Maryland Department of Natural Resources and The Conservation Fund, the group will work to expand green spaces and improve public access to natural areas in Baltimore and central Maryland. The Coalition focuses on four values: resilience, to improve regional capacity to respond to the impacts of climate change; biodiversity, to restore wildlife habitat; equity, to make access to the benefits of nature equal across the region; and discovery, to provide opportunities for residents to explore the great outdoors.
