Ohio River Islands Refuge acquires nearby land in West Virginia

The Service recently purchased two tracts of land in Williamstown, West Virginia. The acquisition is almost an acre, and the lands are now part of Ohio River Islands National Wildlife Refuge. The areas secure public access to refuge facilities including trails, a parking lot, a fishing pier and a kayak launch along the Ohio River. With the purchase, the refuge has restoration plans for the grassy field and shrubs that will provide habitat for pollinators and migratory birds.
