Service honors Friends of Conte Refuge

The Service has awarded its 2013 National Land Protection Award to the Friends of the Silvio O. Conte National Fish and Wildlife Refuge, a partnership of more than 50 local, regional and national organizations from across the river’s four-state watershed in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont. Since the group was founded in 2005, the Friends of Conte have been instrumental in conservation efforts throughout the Connecticut River Watershed. They have helped to protect more than 35,700 acres throughout the watershed and were one of the key reasons the Connecticut River Watershed was designated the nation's first National Blueway in 2012.
