Honoring Our Own - Joe Ambo

Joe Ambo is from Gill, Mass., and he originally enlisted in the Massachusetts Army National Guard in 1991. He took a short break from the armed services and in 2010 re-enlisted in the Army and deployed overseas.
Joe served with B Company 1-181 Infantry Regiment in Afghanistan from 2010 to 2011. While in the Army, Joe was a gunner on the security force for the Nuristan Provincial Reconstruction Team. During his tour, he ran mounted combat patrols in the mountains of Nuristan and in the cities of Jalalabad and Kandahar.

No longer in the Army, Joe now works as a mail clerk and security guard in the Northeast Regional Office in Hadley, Mass.
