Information Bulletin: Alligator River Refuge Road Construction Project Begins June 15 -Milltail Road
Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge

Information Bulletin: Road construction will begin on Milltail Road on Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge, Monday, June 15, 2020 and could last until approximately August 8, 2020. Milltail Road will be closed to all non-construction traffic from the intersection of Sandy Ridge and Milltail Roads down to the intersection of Possum, Navy Shell and Milltail Roads, during mobilization of equipment and construction. The contractor will erect road closure signs when needed. But the road closure is anticipated to begin on June 15 and last the full length of the project. The Milltail boat launch will also be closed in conjunction with the road closure. The construction project consists of raising the profile of Milltail Road on approximately 0.64 miles of roadway and making repairs to the Milltail Bridge. The project is being funded and managed through the Federal Highways Administration. The map (below) shows the road closure (yellow) and project area (blue).
