Caption: The Southern Area Red Type 1 Incident Management Team was deployed recently to coordinate suppression efforts for several wildfires near the panhandle of Texas. Red Team members Paul Stevens, former Chief Ranger of Cape Hatteras National Seashore, and Lisa Meekins, firefighter for Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge served with the team. In addition, an engine from the Coastal NC National Wildlife Refuge Complex with crew (Brian Van Druten, Anthony Davis, and Eric Meekins) was deployed to work the same fires. These firefighters returned home over the weekend, just in time to batten down the hatches for the impending storm.
