Caption: Currently, you may see flashes of beautiful, bright colors on Pocosin Lakes National Wildlife Refuge. Shown here are a bright blue Indigo Bunting and a luminous red Summer Tanager. Both birds share an appetite for a variety insects, seeds, berries and many other food sources. Enjoy birding at Pocosin Lakes, Alligator River & Pea Island Refuges.

Pocosin Lakes National Wildlife Refuge is one of six national wildlife refuges in the Coastal North Carolina National Wildlife Refuges Complex. Pocosin Lakes Visitor Center, located in Columbia, NC, is open 9am to 4pm whenever volunteer staffing is available.
