Caption: Sometimes called a Swamp Warbler, Prothonotary Warblers feed mostly on insects of all types - ants, grasshoppers, beetles, flies, caterpillars, spiders, moth, butterflies and much more. At times they'll eat snails , seeds and fruits too. These warblers add a beautiful flash of color to forests, swamps and marshes.
Pocosin Lakes National Wildlife Refuge is one of six national wildlife refuges in the Coastal North Carolina National Wildlife Refuges Complex. Pocosin Lakes Visitor Center, located in Columbia, NC, is open 9am to 4pm whenever volunteer staffing is available
