Midwest Region Staff Can Now Enjoy New Retirement Benefit Services

We’re pleased to announce new retirement services for employees of the Midwest Region. These services will be provided by Government Retirement and Benefits, Inc. (GRB) - a firm established in 1986 with expertise in the field of Federal retirement and benefits programs, specializing in retirement and benefits counseling, processing, training and enterprise software solutions.

Why use Government Retirement and Benefits for these services? Government Retirement and Benefits employs experienced federal retirement benefits counselors. Our Northeast Region staff has been receiving these same services from Government Retirement and Benefits for a number of years with excellent results.

What services are available? Government Retirement and Benefits’ highly qualified and experienced staff provide a full range of retirement and benefits counseling services for our employees through their Benefits Service Center. Counseling is conducted by telephone by experienced federal retirement benefits counselors. Typical counseling includes a description of benefits, explanation of estimates, details about elections and choices available, and guidance regarding processing timeframes for retirement claims.

Specific types of estimates/applications/counseling subjects can include:

  • Voluntary, Involuntary, Early (including the Service’s current VERA authority expiring 12/31/2014), Postponed, and Disability Retirement
  • Civilian Service Deposits/Redeposits
  • Military Service Deposits
  • Social Security Offset
  • FERS Annuity Supplement
  • CSRS Voluntary Contributions Annuity
  • Service Computation Date
  • Verification of Retirement Coverage
  • Social Security Benefits
  • Thrift Savings Plan Benefits
  • Death-In-Service Benefits

How are services obtained? Employees are invited and encouraged to request services by completing a Retirement Benefits Services Request Form and submitting the form directly to the Government Retirement and Benefits Service Center. Upon receipt of your request, you will be contacted by a Government Retirement and Benefits Service Center representative. The services requested and the information exchanged will be kept in confidence between you, the Government Retirement and Benefits Service Center representative, and the Division of Human Resources.
