Larry Dean,
Regional Office – External Affairs

Deputy Assistant Secretary for Fish and Wildlife and Parks and current nominee to become the Director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Aurelia Skipwith visited a number of Region 3 field offices during a three-day July 10-12.

During the visit she presented the Service’s Military Conservation Partnership Award to Fort McCoy, Wisconsin. Her field office stops included spending time with Upper Mississippi River National Fish and Wildlife Refuge staff on the Mississippi River to learn about projects and current issues like this year’s flood impacts. She also learned more about fisheries issues on the river and took part in electrofishing with fisheries staff in LaCrosse.

Skipwith also visited the Genoa National Fish Hatchery and Great River Road Interpretive Center, Necedah National Wildlife Refuge, the Midwest Fisheries Center and the LaCrosse District Visitor’s Center during her first trip to Service offices in the Midwest.
