Digital Surveys

Modern bat survey techniques include taking digital photos of bat clusters in the hibernacula. Back in the office, each bat nose is marked with a red dot and the number of noses counted. This technique is much more accurate than the old method of measuring the size of each cluster and estimating the number of bats. This method is also much less disruptive to the bats.
