Regional Director Meets with Director of Iowa DNR During Iowa Visit

RD Tome Melius meets the Iowa DNR Director

Midwest Regional Director Tom Melius visited with newly appointed Iowa Department of Natural Resources Director (IDNR) Roger Lande, Jan. 21, 2011 at the IDNR central office in Des Moines, Iowa.

Melius opened the meet and greet by recognizing the vital partnerships that the USFWS has built with the IDNR Wildlife Bureau and thanked IDNR staff for their continued efforts to work together on conservation issues across the state.

Describing himself as collaborative and communicative by nature, Lande expressed a strong interest in continuing these planning efforts with the USFWS and associated partners.

Iowa DNR Wildlife Bureau Chief Dale Garner and Bureau Biologist Jeff Joens were also on hand to share in discussions on recent USFWS and Iowa DNR partnerships through the Prairie Potholes Joint Venture Program and Landscape Conservation Cooperatives that have been amplifying inter-agency and non-profit conservation efforts on the habitat level.
