Toxicity of 22 therapeutic compounds to six fishes

First work: Of 22 therapeutic chemicals (18 parasiticides and 4 oral bacteriostats) tested by bioassays, 16 were toxic to fish and 6 were not. Second work: Bayer 73, a molluscicide sold commercially as Bayluscide, is highly toxic to 18 species of freshwater fish. Third work: Toxicities of dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) to rainbow trout, brook trout, lake trout, carp, black bullhead, channel catfish, green sunfish, bluegill, and yellow perch were determined in 24-, 48-, and 96-hour static bioassays as 12° C. Fourth work: Three inexpensive pieces of labor-saving apparatus for bioassay laboratory use are described and illustrated.
