This historic image from the 1870's shows one of the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Services oldest National Fish Hatcheries, Craig Brook, located in Maine. The wooden troughs had water running through them with small salmon fingerlings. This image is one sample of thousands and blueprints, annual reports, stocking records, and more are also stored at the National Fish & Aquatic Conservation Archives.
